WESTIR Impact Statement – May 2026

Since its establishment in 1980, WESTIR Limited has served as a critical knowledge hub and strategic pillar for data-driven social research within Greater Western Sydney. Over more than four decades, the organisation has documented the region’s rapid growth and diverse socio-economic changes through a comprehensive evidence base that includes publications, ranging from essential Census papers and research reports to detailed factsheets on issues like housing, disability, and urban heat. Through persistent advocacy, collaborative partnerships with local councils, and the provision of accessible information and data, WESTIR has empowered the community sector to effectively plan for social equity and secure necessary infrastructure for a thriving region. WESTIR has prepared an Impact Statement that summarises our history and some of the current work that we have been doing.
